The initiative, organised by the National Traffic Safety Committee incooperation with the Vietnam Honda Company, is part of a programme thatrun by the automobile giant offering 30,000 helmets to childrennationwide.
Addressing the event, Minister ofTransport Dinh La Thang stressed the need for raising traffic safetyawareness among children to ensure their safety on the country’s roads.
Since 2007, Ha Nam has seen a significantdecrease in the number of traffic accidents, according to Vice Secretaryof the provincial Party’s Committee, Nguyen Xuan Dong.
As many as 3,000 helmets have been offered to pupils in provincial schools, he added.-VNA
