Hoa Lac secures 3 billion USD in investments

Hanoi (VNA) - Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park granted investment licences to nineprojects worth a total of 200 million USD in 2016, bringing the number oflicensed projects up to 78 worth 3 billion USD combined.

Thesefigures were released at a conference held in Hanoi to call for more investmentin the park.

Inhis speech at the event, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen DoanToan said the capital city is shifting its industrial structure toward givingpriority to developing hi-tech industries.

Hevowed that local authorities will better facilitate investors--including thoseinvesting in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.

Inorder to attract more investment, Minister of Science and Technology Chu NgocAnh suggested Hoa Lac’s management board perfect infrastructure facilitieswithin the park, improving quality of human resource and quickly solvingdifficulties investors encounter in implementing their projects.

Organisinginvestment promotion conferences to advertise investment climate to domesticand foreign businesses should be a main priority, he said.

Thepark, approved in 1998, is the first and the largest hi-tech facility in Vietnam,with total area of 1,586 ha. It is expected to become a model science space anda national hub for technology development and application.

Corehi-tech fields developing in the park include information technology,communication, electronics, biology, new materials and energies.

 Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recentlyapproved updated plans for the park, to be completed by 2030 in Hanoi’soutlying districts of Thach That and Quoc Oai. Under the updated plan, therewill be an education and training zone for universities and vocational trainingschools covering an area of over 123ha. A research and development zonespanning an area of over 263 ha will house R&D institutions or those totrain, attract and support hi-tech experts. The zone is forecast to bridgeacademic studies and practical applications. A software zone of almost 56hawill serve software producers and software service providers.-VNA
