HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho ChiMinh City Le Thanh Liem hosted a reception on October 18 for Max Vincent, VicePresident of France’s Lyon, during which they signed a cooperation agreementfor 2018-2020 between the two sides.
Speaking at the event, Liem stressed that in the contextthat Vietnam and France are celebrating the 45th anniversary of theirdiplomatic ties and the five-year Strategic Partnership, the working visit bythe Lyon delegation was of significance, contributing to tightening relationsbetween Ho Chi Minh City and Lyon as well as between Vietnam and France atlarge.
He thanked the region for supporting the repair, protectionand conservation of several social and cultural establishments in the city,such as Ho Chi Minh Museum, the People’s Committee headquarters, MunicipalTheatre and Post Office.
He said that the signing of the cooperation agreementcreated a new cooperation framework that helps boost bilateral relationsbetween the two sides and deepen the Vietnam-France strategic partnership.
Vincent stated that the time-honoured relationship betweenFrance and Vietnam is the foundation and motivation to foster ties betweentheir localities.
Lyon pledges to maintain agreements with Ho Chi Minh City,especially in management training, urban administration, sustainabledevelopment, waste treatment, urban lightning, and smart city building, heaffirmed.
He also vowed to provide technical assistance for lightningprojects in the city’s symbolic facilitates, while hoping that the city willstep up economic collaboration with Lyon. - VNA
