Health sector advances manpower

Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), theproject was implemented by the Ministry of Health’s Department ofMedical Examination and Treatment Management in 2010.

It offered training courses, workshops and regular assessments atBach Mai, Hue and Cho Ray general hospitals and 81 other medicalestablishments nationwide.

As a result, a plan toimprove the quality of the health system’s human resources has beendevised with standardised training materials in nine major fieldsincluding hospital quality management, patient safety, first aid andcomprehensive care.

Almost 3,200 medical staffmembers upgraded their skills domestically and 59 personnel from healthauthorities were trained in Japan.

At theworkshop, beneficiaries of the project shared their experiences andproposed measures to maintain and expand its positive impacts movingforward.

Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thi Xuyen said the initiative boosted medical service access and quality in Vietnam.

JICA-sponsored projects generally produce sound outcomes in the countries, Xuyen declared.-VNA

Hanoi tightens control, prevention of monkeypox
