The delegation, led by Head of theministry’s Medical Examination and Treatment Department Luong Ngoc Khue,examined preparations for treating MERS-CoV patients and conductinginfection control once a MERS-CoV suspect is admitted at the hospital.
The provincial healthcare authority is preparedfor any MERS-CoV emergency. A detailed plan was drawn up and some 11mobile medical teams have been established.
Medical units in the province were zoned off for MERS-CoV patienttreatment and have equipped all necessary facilities, medicines andquarantine areas to cope with the epidemic.
Thesame day, the ministry organised a training course on MERS-CoVdiagnosis, treatment and infection control in Can Tho, the fifth of itskind, for medical workers at centrally and provincially-run hospitals.
After the conclusion of the course, the workerswill provide training for lower-level medical units at their cities orprovinces.
The ministry expects the course willimprove public awareness of MERS-CoV among medical workers and thecommunity and recommended those with potential symptoms of the diseaseimmediately present themselves at a hospital for early examination.-VNA
