Binh Dinh (VNA) - The Ministry of Health is pushing the second phase of the Regional and Provincial Hospital Development Project, helping to improve healthcare for local people and ease overcrowding at major central hospitals, heard a conference held in the central province of Binh Dinh on December 9.
Phase 2 of the project will cost 120 million USD, 104 million USD of which is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It is being carried out in the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Dinh, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Nghe An, Da Nang, Bac Giang, Son Tay, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh, and started in 2012.
Ten hospitals in these provinces will receive support to upgrade facilities and provide training for medical staff, enabling them to offer better examinations and treatment for local people.
According to Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen, seven of the ten hospitals have completed financial and technical reports and received approval from JICA. The remaining hospital will finalise their reports in January, she said.
The first phase of the project was implemented from October 2008 to May 2011, and proved highly beneficial for local hospitals.-VNA
