HCM City urged to better Party building

Party building is a regular,uninterrupted and long-term task, the Party chief reiterated whileworking on March 29 with the municipal leaders on the implementation ofthe Resolution of the 4 th meeting of the Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) Central Committee regarding some urgent issues on Party building.

In the immediate time, HCM City should reviewthe one-year implementation of the resolution and publicise the resultsto let people know what have been done and what yet to be done, he said.

“Each member of the municipal Party Committee andits standing board must be a vanguard and set an example forsubordinates and people,” he stressed.

The Partyleader emphasised the need to regularly examine the implementation ofthe resolution, adding that improving the Party’s leadership andcombative strength is key to sustainable development, thus protectingthe regime and revolutionary fruits.

He praisedgreat achievements HCM City has made in the implementation of theresolution as well as in socio-economic development, affirming its roleas a locomotive and the nation’s socio-economics, culture, education,and science-technology hub.

Due to its importantrole and position, HCM City should closely follow the Party’sresolutions and the State’s strategies in implementing its action plansas well as taking feasible and practical measures to achieve its settargets ahead of other localities to turn itself into a modernindustrialised city, he said.

According to Secretaryof the HCM City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, during 2011-2012, despitedomestic and world difficulties and challenges, HCM City’seconomic growth was 1.8 times higher than that of the country.

Later on the day, Party leader Trong made a visit to District 8, thecity’s southern gateway, which has recorded rapid urbanisation in recentyears.-VNA
