HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City plans tocomplete flood-prevention work by 2020 on 15 streets, 28 alleys, and fivestreets flooded by tides, under a new plan approved by the city’s People’sCommittee.
During the period, the city will complete the second stage of the Binh Hungwater treatment project with a capacity of 469,000 cu.m per day, and Nhieu Loc-ThiNghe Wastewater Treatment Plant with total capacity of 480,000 cu.m per day.
The city also proposed starting construction of four more wastewater treatmentplants, including Tay Sai Gon, Binh Tan, Tan Hoa-Lo Gom and Bac Sai Gon, withtotal capacity of 800,000 cu.m per day.
The city has also set up an Executive Board of Flood Control with 11 membersinclude deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, Tran Vinh Tuyen, whowill head the board.
Flooding has now been prevented on streets that once easily flooded, includingLe Hong Phong, Ky Dong, Hai Ba Trung, No Trang Long, Ly Thuong Kiet, Kinh DuongVuong and more, according to the city’s Steering Centre for Urban FloodControl.-VNA
