HCM City to expand mobile, e-commerce coverage

HCMCity (VNS/VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City aims to develop mobile commerce andexpand e-commerce coverage in domestic markets until 2030, focusing on highquality platforms and co-operation between platforms and businesses.

Accordingto a recently approved programme on developing e-commerce in the city, HCM Cityis focusing more on having high quality e-commerce platforms with high customertrust, rather than just chasing numbers, as well as having more well-developedspecialised e-commerce platforms.

Thespecialised platforms are to cooperate closely with traditional distributionnetworks to form omni-channels, capable of offering high quality customerservice across different channels.

Thecity also aims to encourage more e-commerce transactions between individuals onsocial media and online payment, as well as develop logistics for e-commercedelivery.

Morenetworking opportunities will be created to connect manufacturers withplatforms, as well as HCM City to other provinces.

From2026 to 2030, the city will focus on assisting e-commerce businesses in Vietnamto expand to international markets and apply modern technologies tosatisfy mobile shopping demand.

TheDepartment of Industry and Trade is working with other departments andauthorities to advise the city on building a comprehensive plan to develop thecity’s e-commerce for 2021 – 2025.
