HCMCity (VNA) - The Vietnam Social Security’s chapter in Ho Chi MinhCity aims to increase social insurance coverage to 54 percent of the localworkforce, equivalent to more than 2.5 million people in 2019.
According to Director of the agency Phan Van Men, unemployment coverage isexpected to expand to 52 percent of the workforce, or 2.35 million, this year.
Thenumber of those joining health insurance is expected to exceed 7.6 million,equivalent to 89 percent of the city’s population.
Themunicipal insurance agency aims to collect some 66 trillion VND (over 2.8billion USD) of social, health and unemployment insurance premiums in the year,up 10 percent against the figure of 2018.
The agency also strives to kept an insurance debt rate below 1.85 percent.
Menstressed that the agency has been making every effort to increase the number ofthose participating in social and health insurance, especially workers in newlyestablished firms.
Attention has been also paid to inspecting the implementation of regulations onsocial, health and unemployment insurance, and recommending agencies tostrictly handle violations, he added. -VNA
