HCM City (VNA) – As more start-ups have been established, HCM City’s labourdemand has increased, with 25,000 permanent and 7,000 temporary jobs that needto be filled in June.
The mainfields looking for workers are: sales, textiles, footwear, mechanics,automation, IT, transport, import-export, travel services and real estate,according to the city’s Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour MarketInformation (Falmi).
Workerswith a college or university degree make up 30.7 percent of recruitment needsand those with an intermediate degree 18.9 percent.
In May,Falmi conducted a survey of 4,277 companies with a total of 49,105 vacancies.
Thesurvey found that mechanical engineering/automation and IT sectors have anincreased need for experienced workers.
Forty-fourpercent of the jobs in the mechanical engineering/automation field needexperienced workers, with 33 percent of the jobs requiring at least one year ofexperience. More than 9 percent of workers in the field need to have two tofive years of experience, and 1.4 percent five years of experience or more.
Companiesthat need to recruit web designers and programmers, and other positions withsimilar skills, require at least one year of experience.
The jobsattracting the most applicants were in accounting/auditing, marketing,administration, transport, import-export, architecture, IT and human resources,according to Falmi.
More than75 percent of the people applying for jobs such as accountant, human resourcesmanager, director’s assistant and electrical engineer had a university orcollege degree.
Falmi alsoon June 1 reported that in the first four months of the year, nearly 42,000people claimed unemployment allowance, with the figure predicted to increasenext month.
In Aprilalone, nearly 14,000 registered as unemployed, said Nguyen Cao Thang, deputydirector of HCM City Jobs Placement Centre.
In thefirst four months, HCM City spent more than 653 billion VND (29 million USD) inunemployment allowance.
Manyworkers register for benefits from April to October every year, because afterthe Tet holiday, they want to find a better job with higher income,according to Thang.-VNA
