Thisstatement was made by both Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee LeHoang Quan and Sachsen Governor Stanislaw Tillich during their meetingin HCM City on March 30.
They said environment andeducation are two areas where the two localities have opportunities,potential and demand for cooperation.
The HCM City officialspoke highly of Sachsen’s strengths in industry, education,science-technology, hi-tech and tourism, saying the German state is homefor many leading German groups, universities and research institutes,with potential for investment expansion and cooperation with Vietnam,including HCM City .
He stressed the efficiency of Germany’s cooperation projects and investment in recent years, especially inindustry, education and infrastructure development.
Quanaffirmed environment is top priority in the city’s socio-economicdevelopment and he said he wants the two sides to cooperate in wastewater treatment.
Governor Stanislaw Tillich affirmed his state’swillingness to help Vietnam as well as HCM City in development,particularly in areas of the State’s strength.
He saw concretecooperation between the two localities being implemented in the future,including Leipzig University ’s masters degree course on businessmanagement for the city’s small and medium-sized enterprises, and wastetreatment research.
The Governor said during his current visit,many Sachsen environmental companies have offered their advancedtechnology and sought opportunities for cooperation and business withpartners in HCM City.
During the Sachsen Governor’s visitto the city, Saigon University and Germany’s internationalassociation on environmental protection and technology (Saxutec) signed amemorandum of understanding on cooperation to study and apply solidwaste treatment technology.
Under the MoU, Saxutec will helptrain Vietnamese environmental lecturers in Germany, transfertechnology, cooperate in scientific research and invest in research labsand treatment of solid waste./.
