If companies want to useparking lots on pavements for free, District 1 authorities can providetemporary licences for them.
The People’s Committeehas also told District 1 to conduct inspections of licenses granted for 48parking lots in good locations and operated by bureaus and divisions of theDistrict 1 People’s Committee.
The chairman of theDistrict 1 People’s Committee will work with the city’s Volunteer Youth Forceto transfer management of certain parking lots to the force.
Parking lots thatadversely affect pedestrians will be terminated.
Pavement sections onmany streets in District 1 like Ho Tung Mau, Nguyen Du and Ton Duc Thang areused for parking.
Last year, the citylaunched a campaign to clear pavements for pedestrians, but use of thepavements by businesses has reoccurred.
The pavements on manystreets in districts 1, 3, Binh Thanh, Go Vap and Phu Nhuan are being illegallyused for business or parking, according to the Nguoi Lao Dong (the Labourer) newspaper.
On a section of NguyenBinh Khiem Street extending from Le Duan Street to Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street inDistrict 1, many shops use pavements to park vehicles of their customers.
On a section of Pham VanDong Street from Binh Loi Bridge to Nguyen Thai Son roundabout in Go Vap and BinhThanh districts, most pavements in front of restaurants, eateries and coffeeshops are used for parking.
Nguyen Thanh Phong,chairman of the People’s Committee, said district authorities should continueclearing pavements.-VNA
