HCM City (VNA) – Authorities of Ho Chi Minh City will continue holding meetings with local and foreign businesspeople to promptly unlock obstacles facing them, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang pledged.
He also said the city will continue improving the local business climate during his meeting with Chairman of the British Business Group in Vietnam (BBGV) Kenneth Atkinson on June 21.
Thang hailed BBGV for conducting a lot of market studies and serving as a linkage between Vietnamese and UK firms.
The UK is the eighth largest investor in Ho Chi Minh City with two-way trade hitting 875 million USD last year, he said, adding that he hoped Atkinson and the BBGV will keep calling for UK investment in Ho Chi Minh City.
Atkinson, for his part, put forward suggestions involving the extension of businesspeople’ stay, the granting of work permit for foreigners and the settlement of civil disputes, which he said, will make it easier for UK business operations in Vietnam.
He said a number of UK companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, are interested in doing business in Vietnam, and the BBGV will do to bring them here.
The BBGV currently groups 490 members, according to him.-VNA
