Officials of Ho Chi Minh City on April 9 visited the Lao ConsulateGeneral to extend greetings on the traditional Lao New Year - Boun PiMay.

Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said she believes under theleadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the Laopeople will continue to thrive towards sustainable development.

The official underlined the growing cooperation between Ho Chi MinhCity and Lao localities in various fields in recent years,contributing to the special ties between the two countries.

Consul General Southideth Phommalat introduced the guests to ritualsof the Boun Pi May festival in Laos such as splashing water, tyingthread around wrists for luck, and setting animal free to pray forbumper crops, wealth, luck and happiness.

He wished for more effective and sustainable cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities.-VNA
