HCM City, Lyon sign MoU on artistic lighting cooperation

HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of theHo Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoa Binh and Vice Mayor of France’s Lyoncity Sonia Zdorovzoff signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperationin artistic lighting for the Ho Chi Minh City State Treasury building viavideoconference on October 11.

It was the sixth urban lighting project betweenboth sides which was signed at an online talks between the two officials.

Speaking highly of bilateral ties within theframework of the urban research and forecasting centre (PADDI), Binh wishedthat Lyon would continue sending experts to the city to offer feedback on themaster plans of Thu Duc city and Ho Chi Minh City.

He said Ho Chi Minh City wishes to receive Lyon’s help in trainingworkforce to operate buildings under urban lighting projects. He proposed Lyonconsider with artistic lighting projects for historical buildings in the city.

Binh also expressed his wish to learn from the city’sexperience in sustainable urban development, boost joint work in floodingprevention and control, building green urban areas, renewable energy and cleantechnology.

According to him, both sides should facilitatecultural coordination, technological transfer related to museums, improve thecapacity of management officials, and popularise their cultures and peoples.

As Ho Chi Minh City is building a post-pandemiceconomic recovery plan, Binh said the city wants to foster trade and investmentwith Lyon.

Ho Chi Minh City will create favourable conditionsfor enterprises and investors of France and Lyon in particular to do business in the city, he said.

Agreeing with Binh’s proposals, Zdorovzoffsaid both sides need to further step up join work in environment protection,culture, economy and trade.

Ho Chi Minh City and Lyon established bilateralties in 1997 with the priority cooperation fields of heritage preservation, urbanplanning and development, urban transportation and economy./.
