Moscow (VNA) - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee NguyenThien Nhan on May 18 visited several water management facilities in St.Petersburg city within the framework of his working visit to Russia from May16-25.

During the tour, Nhan was introduced to advanced wastewatertreatment technologies which are friendly to the environment, and clean waterand wastewater management of St. Petersburg city

He showed his interest in the operation of the State UnitaryEnterprise Vodokanal of St. Petersburg which is in charge of treating 98.5percent of waste and wastewater of the city.

The Secretary also spoke highly of community activities toraise public awareness, especially that of young people, of effective water useand water and environmental protection through the establishment of the YouthEnvironmental Centre and “The Universe of Water” Museum complex.

Water management is one of the four main cooperation fieldsof a roadmap on bilateral cooperation for 2018-2020 signed by HCM City and StPetersburg on May 17.

Earlier on the occasion of the 313th foundinganniversary of the Baltic Fleet, the leader of Ho Chi Minh City visited theAurora cruiser which is the symbol of the October Revolution. The ship fired adeafening warning shot launching an attack on the Winter Palace in Petrograd onNovember 7, 1917.

He also attended a ceremony to mark 95 years from the date PresidentHo Chi Minh first arrived in Petrograd, and the late President’s 128th birthday (May 19, 1890).-VNA
