HCM City leader vows support for ties with Japan

Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, is ready to offer all possible support for Japanese experts to return to work after the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.

HCMCity (VNA) – Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, is ready tooffer all possible support for Japanese experts to return to work after the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, said Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Nguyen Thanh Phong.

Duringa reception for new Japanese Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City WatanabeNobuhiro on September 7, Phong expressed his belief that the Japanese officialwill offer many effective initiatives to enhance ties between Vietnam andJapan, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Japanese localities inparticular.

Hesaid the number of Japanese firms in the city is on the rise, adding that thecity regards foreign investors’ success as its own.

Theleader committed the best support for the Japanese Consulate General to boost bilateralties, and vowed to work closely with Japanese investors to speed up the constructionof metro line No.1 and projects using Japan’s official development assistance.

Nobuhiro,for his part, said the rising number of Japanese investors in the city is vivid evidence of growing ties between Japan  and Vietnam, and between Japan and HCM City inparticular.

Expressinghis impression on the construction of metro line No.1, he affirmed that Japanwill work with the city to ensure its progress. He also suggested the city holdthe seventh Vietnam – Japan festival after the pandemic is under control so asto boost the friendship between the two countries' people./.
