HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’sCommittee Huynh Cach Mang hoped that economic and trade cooperation between thecity and Italy will be growing extensively, bringing practical benefits to bothsides.
He made the statement at a ceremony held by the Consulate General of Italy inHo Chi Minh City on June 2 to celebrate Italy’s 71st Republic Day.
Mang underlined that relations between the two countries have been treasured bygenerations of leaders from both sides.
Ho Chi Minh City is a leading locality in Vietnam to promote collaboration withItaly, especially in trade and investment, he stressed.
Meanwhile,Italian Consul General Carlotta Colli stated that Vietnam-Italy traditionalrelations have been nurtured by the two nations’ leaders and people,particularly in investment, trade and culture.
Collaborations between the two sides have been branched out throughpeople-to-people exchanges, she said, adding that Ho Chi Minh City was chosento hold significant events of culture, fashion and trade between the twocountries.
Last year, two-way trade stood at 4.7 billion USD, 603 million USD of which wascontributed by Ho Chi Minh City. By May, 2017, Italy landed 27 investmentprojects valued at 68.5 million USD in the southern metropolis.-VNA
