HCM City (VNA) - A myriad of activities will be held across Ho Chi Minh City to ring in the New Year 2016.
The city plans to organise special art performances on December 30 to celebrate 20 years of Vietnam’s engagement in ASEAN and the establishment of the ASEAN Community.
Similar programmes are schedule to take place in District 1 as well as industrial parks and universities on December 31 and January 1 to welcome the New Year.
From December 19 to January 3, the municipal People’s Committee will decorate main streets with lighting art such as Truong Son , Nam Ky Khoi Nghia – Nguyen Van Troi, Le Loi, Nguyen Hue, Le Duan, Pham Ngoc Thach, and Ton Duc Thang.
Fireworks will be displayed at the tunnel spanning the Saigon River in District 2 and a low-reign one at Dam Sen cultural park in District 11 on January 1.
A number of exhibitions highlighting Vietnam’s sea and islands; attainments of soldiers and people in Truong Sa (Spartly) archipelago; HCMC City’s achievements in politics, culture, economics and external affairs; Vietnam’s cooperation with other ASEAN member states; and the beauty of land, people and culture from ASEAN nations, are expected to draw public attention.
Scores of hotels and businesses across the city have planned various celebrations to serve locals and tourists on the occasion.-VNA
