HMC City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City is playing a key role in strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Duong Ngoc Hai said during a celebration of Indonesia's 79th National Day in the southern hub on September 19.
Hai highlighted the growing Vietnam-Indonesia Strategic Partnership, particularly in trade, which reached nearly 14 billion USD in 2023, with a goal of 18 billion USD by 2028.
The city accounted for 30% of the trade turnover between the two countries last year, with Indonesia ranking among the top 20 foreign investors in the city. Cooperation in culture and education has also deepened.
Hai emphasised the city’s commitment to enhancing economic, cultural, and educational ties with Indonesia, particularly in technology, green development, and digital transformation.
Indonesian Consul General in HCM City Agustaviano Sofjan praised the long-standing relationship and stressed that as important members of ASEAN, both countries have made great contributions to the region's dynamism and growth.
He reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to furthering the Strategic Partnership, with a focus on the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025./.
