Hanoi’s largest steel flyover helps ease traffic congestion

Completed two months aheadof schedule, the 350 billion VND, 16-metre wide bridge has four trafficlanes and a modern lighting system.

Addressing theceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the overpassalleviates a heavily congested zone in Hanoi . It demonstrates thecommitment of city authorities to citizens, and is a positive step inthe effective use of the budget. It is a good example to otherlocalities in the fight against traffic congestion in urban areas.

Atthe ceremony, Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee,assigned duties to local authorities to manage the overpass effectively,in order to reduce traffic congestion and accidents in the city.

Onthe occasion of the 2013 Lunar New Year, Hanoi will also open a similaroverpass at Nam Hong and Mai Dich–Noi Bai interchange, and prepare forother projects at congested intersections.-VNA
