Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi is willing to assist Germaninvestors by connecting them with Vietnamese businesses to run projects in thecapital city, stated Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen DucChung.
Chung made his statement while receiving Martin Dulig, DeputyMinister-President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Transport of theGerman Federal State of Sachsen, in Hanoi on November 19.
He said the capital city values its developing cooperationwith several German localities. Most recently, local authorities supported theGerman Embassy in organising the Deutschland Fest 2018, which provided Germanexperiences in Hanoi and attracted a large number of visitors.
The municipal leader stressed that Hanoi priorities usingtechnologies from Europe, particularly Germany, in local projects for watersupply and environmental pollution treatment.
The city has set the target of supplying all of its citizenswith European-standard water by 2020. In response to the goal, over the pasttwo years, 24 foreign and domestic investors have joined 31 projects. The Duongriver plant, carried out by a German joint venture between the Aone DeutschlandAG and Strabang companies, was among those projects. The plant began operationsin October this year, producing 150,000cu.m of water per day.
For his part, Martin Dulig said Hanoi is growing withvitality and a young population, thus sharing many common challenges of other bigcities around the world, including Sachsen’s biggest city of Leipzig.
He suggested the Vietnamese capital and cities of Sachsen worktogether to find measures for their development issues.
He said with its experience in waste water and environmentalpollution treatment, as well as transport development, Sachsen is lookingforward to joining collaboration programmes with Vietnam and Hanoi in particular,contributing to local urban growth and better living standards for all. –VNA
