Hanoi, Vientiane enhance cooperation

Vientiane (VNA) – Hanoi Party Committee’s Secretary Dinh Tien Dung and his Vientianecounterpart Anouphap Tounalom held talks in Vientiane onApril 4, during which the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will serve as the foundation for bilateral cooperative activitiesin 2022-2025.

Accordingly, the two cities willmaintain and promote the exchange of high-level delegations, continue to share experiencesin the development of legal documents, supervise the building of the e-government,urban planning and management and create favourable conditions for exchangesbetween their departments, and mass organisations.

They will encourage and support their agencies and units in organising joint activities andpeople-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding and promote multi-fieldcooperation.

The leaders of Hanoi and Vientiane affirmed thatalthough each side has a wide network of international relations with manymajor cities in the world, Hanoi and Vientiane always give high priority todeveloping friendly and cooperative relations with each other, given the close bonds and warm feelings of theParty Committee, government and people of the two capitals of the two brotherlycountries.

They said that the cooperationrelationship between the two capitals in particular and between Hanoi and thelocalities of Laos, in general, has been continuously tightened andcomprehensively developed on all channels, with many effective projects in mostfields such as economy, health, education, agriculture, military andpeople-to-people exchange. The two leaders highlighted that that the results ofcooperation over the past time have not only contributed to the strongdevelopment of the two capitals but also made an important contribution topreserving and developing the special traditional friendship relationshipbetween the two parties, the two States and the two peoples of Vietnam andLaos.

At the talks, Hanoi announced it would assistVientiane with 3 million USD to build the headquarters of the Department ofJustice and the Procuracy Agency of Vientiane./.
