The Hanoi Federation of Labor has introduced a raft of measures to support more than 50,000 workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi Federation of Labor has introduced a raft of measuresto support more than 50,000 workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to statisticsfrom the federation, as at April 3 a total of 3,610 enterprises with 121,273employees were directly affected by the disease. Of the enterprises, 896 had to suspendoperations.

The federation thereforetook 1.5 billion VND (about 64,000 USD) from its budget to help 1,500 disadvantaged trade unionmembers working in local businesses and producers as well as non-public educationalfacilities.

Trade unions in the capitalhave to date provided support to 50,558 affected workers and also presented 915,000face masks, 52,417 bottles of sanitiser, protective gear, medical equipment, andfood, together with nearly 7 billion VND in cash, for local COVID-19 preventionand control efforts.

The federation has setup working groups to actively implement measures to ensure security, social order,and safety among the trade unionists./.
