Hanoi(VNS/VNA) - Concerned organisations in Hanoi are activelystudying and finalising the details of an intelligent transport scheme, whichis expected to be completed next year.
Transport development in large cities with the use ofinformation technology is a growing trend, thus Hanoi is working to build andperfect solutions to become a leading locality with a modern intelligenttransportation system.
The system is part of a project titled ‘Strengthening themanagement of road vehicles to reduce environmental pollution in Hanoi in theperiod 2017-20, with a vision to 2030’.
The Hanoi People’s Committee assigned the municipalDepartment of Transport to coordinate with concerned departments to develop theintelligent transport scheme as part of the smart city scheme with a deadlineof next year.
The scheme’s most important applications are digitisingthe database on transport infrastructure and means of transport, applyingsoftware for an intelligent traffic management system, and improve the handlingof traffic violations.
It is scheduled that by next month, the scheme managementboard will issue additional regulations about the installation of controlequipment for four-wheel vehicles.

By the end of this year, it will promulgate regulations toencourage investment in urban railways and bus rapid transit systems in theform of public-private partnerships.
By the beginning of next year, it will complete theplanning on road traffic development in Hanoi up to 2030, in which prioritywill be given to public transport.
The scheme management board will promulgate regulations onthe operation of taxis and services vehicles of up to nine seats which applyinformation technology.
By next year, the board will complete the proposal tomanage electric bicycles, the development of an online digital traffic map, aswell as the application of information technology in managing and using parkingspots.
By June 2020, the Hanoi Department of Transportation hastwo important tasks.
The first one is issuing regulations on the installationof automatic fee-paying equipment on all cars, in which each car owner mustopen an account to pay fees.
The second one is issuing regulations for automobileowners in the city to install auxiliary equipment, in which vehicle owners mustopen accounts to carry out the automatic fee collection and pay for trafficviolation penalties. -VNA
