Hanoi selects 10 outstanding youths of 2016

The Hanoi youth union has released its list of ten young locals with outstanding achievements in scientific research, economics, security, art, sports and volunteering last year.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi youth union has released its list of ten young localswith outstanding achievements in scientific research, economics, security, art,sports and volunteering last year.

Theresidents will receive the capital’s annual award for outstanding young faces,one of the most prestiguous honours presented by the Ho Chi Minh CommunistYouth Union.

Theyoungest of them is 15-year-old Tran Le Quang Tien, a student of the Vietnam NationalAcademy of Music. He was the first winner of an international violincompetition in Kazakhstan in 2016. He also won a Toyota scholarship in 2015 andan international string instruments contest in Thailand in 2014.

Do Thuy Ha,born in 1981 is the oldest laureate. As head of the blind association in DongDa district, Ha has organised classes on Braille, computers, English andvocational training for nearly 200 members. Her association has worked withinternational organisations to carry out voluntary activities and deliver giftsfor orphans and disabled children every year. In 2005, Ha was the onlyVietnamese selected for a course on leadership skills in Japan.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
