Hanoi records 114 cases of measles so far this year

A total of 114 cases of measles were recorded in the capital city of Hanoi since the start of 2019, the municipal Health Department reported.

Hanoi (VNA) - A total of 114 cases of measles were recorded in thecapital city of Hanoi since the start of 2019, the municipal Health Departmentreported.      

The city detected 91 denguecases, 59 hand-foot-mouth infections and 21 whooping cough patients. No deathswere recorded from these diseases.

Hoang Duc Hanh, vice director of thedepartment, said the situation of diseases during the LunarNew Year (Tet) holiday was under control.

“There are no big outbreaksor dangerous epidemics,” he said.

Since the beginning of2019, the city has not recorded cases of MERS-CoV, Ebola, Influenza A (H5N6),Influenza A (H7N9), or the Zika virus.

However, the currentweather could facilitate the development of respiratory and digestive pathogendiseases, especially during the festivals in the beginning of the lunar year.

To proactively preventthese epidemics, the health department warned people to take the initiative inenvironmental hygiene and disinfection, improve the body’s resistance, ensurefood hygiene and have all their vaccinations.-VNA
