Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s Department of Tourism has suggested Qatar Airwaysto coordinate with the city in promoting its tourism potentials.

TranDuc Hai, Director of the Department of Tourism, said at a working session withrepresentatives of the airline on September 29 that Hanoi welcomes over 4million foreign visitors each year. Currently, 24 international airlines areoperating flights to Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport.

Haipledged that Hanoi will help Qatar Airways promote its images, while creatingoptimal conditions for the airline to operate in Vietnam.

Forher part, Jeanie Jin, chief of the Qatar Airways Office in Hanoi, said that theairline has run flights to 150 destinations across the globe.

Sheexpressed hope that the launching of the Hanoi-Doha direct air route will helpboost tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.

NguyenNhat Phuong, from travel firm Saigontourist, proposed that Qatar Airways loosenits regulations on group tours while cooperating with Vietnamese firms andoffer ticket promotions to introduce new destinations and promote tourism.

TheHanoi-Doha direct air route is scheduled to operate from January 2, 2018, whichis expected to foster the Vietnam-Qatar connectivity. Currently, flightsbetween Vietnam and Qatar have to transit in Bangkok.-VNA
