Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi aims to grow400,000 trees this year and 600,000 trees between 2019 and 2020 to green up thecity.
In response to the New Year (Tet) tree-plantingmovement initiated by late President Ho Chi Minh, the city is growing 150,000trees in districts, towns, public places, offices, schools and hospitals fromFebruary 9-15.
The Hanoi Green Tree and Park One Member Co.,Ltd. said it has planted various kinds of trees across 12 districts of thecity.
Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen Duc Chung emphasised the need to grow diverse types of trees andmaintain the development of indigenous trees.
He recommended supplying new varieties which aresuitable with the capital’s soil and climate conditions, agreeing on the sizeof trees, and adopting proper caring techniques.
Hanoi fulfilled its goal of growing one milliontrees two years ahead of schedule in 2020.-VNA
