Hanoi on track to fulfil annual revenue target

The capital city of Hanoi’s officials have announced that the total city’s revenue this year is projected to exceed the targeted revenue by 1.04 percent and increase by 15.8 percent over last year’s figure.

Hanoi (VNA) – The capitalcity of Hanoi’s officials have announced that the total city’s revenue thisyear is projected to exceed the targeted revenue by 1.04 percent and increaseby 15.8 percent over last year’s figure.

The figures were announced at aconference the Hanoi People’s Committee held on September 28 to review the city’sfinance for the first nine months of this year and make decisions to manage thecity’s budget in the remaining months of the year.

The city’s revenue for the firstnine months of the year reached 146.4 trillion VND (6.5 billion USD), meeting 71.5 percent of theyear’s targeted revenue, according to report of the city’s Department ofPlanning and Investment.

It is estimated that the totalcity revenue for the entire year will reach over 207.6 trillion VND (9.2billion USD).

Nguyen Manh Quyen, thedepartment’s director, also emphasised that the city’s investment and businessenvironment had improved.

Hanoi ranked 14th on theprovincial competitiveness index (PCI) in 2016. It scored 60.74 points, up 10levels compared to 2015.

The average consumer price indexin the first nine months was up by 3.5-3.55 percent over the same period lastyear. The average CPI in 2017 is estimated to increase by 3.05-3.11 percentcompared to 2016.

Hanoi also ranked third among 63 provinces andcities in the country in the2016 administrative reform index.

Besides the results, Quyen alsomentioned some shortcomings in the city’s economic performance this year.Industrial growth is increasing slowly and competitiveness is not high.Violations on construction regulations, public land laws and mining rules persist.

Other issues such as healthexamination and treatment, quality of medicine, food safety and hygiene haveimproved, but not yet met the people’s demands.

Quyen said that until the end ofthe year, the city will carry out drastic measures to manage revenuecollection, stimulate consumption and ensure market stability for the coming Tet (Lunar New Year holidays) toachieve the growth target of 8.5 percent in 2017.-VNA
