Hanoi marks Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory

A festival was held at the Dong Da Park in Ha Noi on February 4 to mark the 225th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory led by national hero Nguyen Hue over Qing invaders.

In the earlyspring of 1789, Nguyen Hue, who was later proclaimed Emperor QuangTrung, led his guerrillas from Hue imperial palace to Hanoi, whichwas then occupied by the Chinese Qing army.

He launched a surprise attack and defeated more than 20,000 Qingsoldiers during a battle on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.

The victory of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da went down into thenation’s history as an immortal epic of the struggle for nationalconstruction and defence.

The festival included incenseoffering ceremony, palanquin procession and a range of artisticperformances in memory of King Quang Trung-Nguyen Hue and Tay Sonsoldiers.

The event aims to uphold the country’scultural values while educating patriotic and combat traditions to younggenerations.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
