Hanoi (VNA) – The Department of Educationand Training of Hanoi and Vietnam Dairy Product JSC (Vinamilk) on January 2organised a ceremony at Kim Dong Primary School in Ba Dinh district to launch aschool milk programme in the city.
Speaking at the event, Director of the department Pham Xuan Tien said theschool milk programme has been implemented for more than 100 years in manycountries worldwide.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1340/TTg approving the nationalschool milk programme by 2020, which has come to such cities and provinces asBac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Nghe An and Dong Nai.
Vinamilk, which won the bidding package, will provide fresh milk for childrenin kindergartens and primary schools in Hanoi daily during the 2018-2019academic year, and till the end of 2020, he said.
About 1.2 students in the city are expected to benefit from the city’s programmewhose funding amounts to 4 trillion VND (172 million USD).
Of note, poor, near-poor, ethnic minoritystudents and social policy beneficiaries will receive free milk under theprogramme.-VNA
