Hanoi (VNA) – Bilateral cooperationpotential between Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi and Sri Lanka remains large,especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and cultural exchanges, alocal official has said.
Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen Duc Chung made the statement at a reception for Sri Lankan Ambassador toVietnam Sampath Prasanna Walpita Gamage in Hanoi on October 31.
Hanoi is willing to introduce freshwateraquaculture businesses as well as connect with localities across Vietnam to transfertechnology in this field to Sri Lanka, he said.
The two countries’ governments are negotiating adirect air route between Hanoi and Colombo to facilitate travel, family visitsand education development, he added.
The ambassador agreed with the host’scooperation proposals, and suggested the two countries promote youthexchanges.
He added that he will actively work to attractmore tourists from Sri Lanka to Vietnam and Hanoi.
He also supported the establishment of theHanoi-Colombo direct air route and hoped the two sides will implement theproject soon.
Chairman Chung voiced his hope that theambassador will serve as a bridge to forge the two countries’ friendship andboost locality-to-locality cooperation./.
