Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his wish that Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture will transfer technologies in environmental pollution treatment, tree planting, agricultural production and aquaculture to the capital city.

At a reception for Masayuki Nakao, Chairman of the Fukuoka provincial Council, Chung suggested Hanoi and Fukuoka enhance their cooperation in education and tourism.

He said Hanoi will prioritise rapid and sustainable development, especially the building of fresh water supply system, in the next five years.

Hanoi is expected to burn all waste, clean 1,300 lakes and plant 1 million trees in the locality during the 2016-2020 period, the official added.

At the same time, the city is working on a plan on infrastructure development and calling for investments in five bridges spanning over the Hong (Red) River from foreign investors, including those from Japan, Chung said.

Masayuki Nakao noted with pleasure the enhanced affiliation between Hanoi and Fukuoka in health care, culture and education since the signing of the agreement on cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and culture in February 2008.

Fukuoka will consider Hanoi’s suggestions, pledging to support the two sides’ enterprises to seek partners.

Fukuoka and Hanoi will step up their cooperation and friendship across fields, he said.

The same day, Masayuki Nakao and his entourage were welcomed by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.-VNA
