Hanoi(VNA) – The number of passengers using monthly-paid bus passes issued by the HanoiTransport and Services Corporation (Transerco) rose 6.6 percent so far thisyear, while the rise of this group of passengers throughout the capital citywas recorded at 5.4 percent.
Watchers attribute theincrease to the stable operation and improved quality of the service of thismeans of public transport.
Along with opening newlines to expand its service coverage, Transerco has piloted mini buses andvehicles using environmental-friendly fuel in Hanoi.
On October 20, thecompany launched Line 109 connecting My Dinh bus terminal to Noi BaiInternational Airport. The modern buses, with a capacity of carrying 60passengers each, have free wifi and GPS system.
The launch of the linemakes it easier for passengers to reach the airport from the city downtown,while easing overload in Line 07 from Cau Giay district to Noi Bai InternationalAirport.
According toTranserco, this year, the firm has replaced 132 old buses with new ones meetingthe EURO 4 emission standard, while piloting the use of electronic passes onits bus rapid transit (BRT) before expanding it to the whole system.-VNA
