According to the provincial Steering Committee for Storm and FloodPrevention and Control, as of 9pm on April 2, the storms that occurredin early morning of March 27 and 31 injured four people, destroyedseveral dozens of houses and damaged 1,250 others as well as thousandsof hectares of rice and food crops.
The hardest hit districts are Hoang Su Phin, Xin Man, Vi Xuyen, Bac Quang, Quang Binh, Dong Van and Meo Vac.
Hundreds of soldiers have been sent to the affected localities to helplocals, mostly from minority ethnic groups, rebuild their houses.
Families with damaged houses are provided with 3-5 million VND each tobuy roof tiles, while schools are repaired to ensure pupils cancontinue their study.
The provincial People’sCommittee directed the districts to provide farmers with seeds and sendagricultural officials to guide locals in restoring their crops.
The local flood and storm control committee has been on duty aroundthe clock to timely handle arising problems and surmount stormaftermaths, said Nguyen Duc Vinh, Head of the provincial Department ofAgriculture and Rural Development cum standing vice chairman of thecommittee.-VNA
