Ha Tinh (VNA) -Authorities of the central coastal province of Ha Tinh will provide 15 kilogrammes of rice per capita per month for a month and a half to households in coastal areas of Ky Anh town who are suffering losses caused by mass fish deaths.
The information was revealed at a meeting held by the provincial Party Standing Committee held on April 27 to review the incident.
The committee discussed issues relating to production recovery in the area affected by the incident as well as measures to support local fishermen and households that are engaged in aquaculture.
Provincial Party Committee Secretary Le Dinh Son asked the provincial People’s Committee to count the losses of the affected households.
Over the past two weeks, residents in coastal areas in the four central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue reported an unusual number of dying or dead fish near the shore.
It is estimated that some 2 tonnes of farmed fish, 7 tonnes of shrimp, and 60 tonnes of oyster with a total value of 4.71 billion VND (204,000 USD) have been lost in Ha Tinh alone.-VNA
