Briefing members ofthe Can Tho PatrioticClergy Solidarity Association on major policies of the Party and State towardthe development of the Khmer community and the Mekong Delta region, Man hailedthe Khmer group’s contributions to the growth of the country.
Heexpressed his hope that Khmer Buddhist dignitaries and people in Can Tho willcontinue promoting solidarity and joining hands with local authorities to fulfilall set targets, while actively responding to VFF movements and campaigns.
Manalso called on the Khmer community to strictly abide by the Law on Belief andReligion, thus fostering the great national solidarity.
MostVenerable Dao Nhu, member of the VFF Central Committee’s Presidium and VicePresident of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council, said that theliving conditions of Khmer people in Can Tho have been improved significantly.
Worshippingfacilities of the Khmer group have been expanded, along with the KhmerTheravada Buddhist Academy, he said.
Onthe occasion, the VFF leader presented 10 gifts to Buddhist monks from pagodasof of the Can Tho Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association, as well as two Khmerfamilies.
This year, Chol ChnamThmay, the most important festival of Khmer people in a year, will take placefrom April 14-16.-VNA
