Ninh Binh (VNA) – A grand ceremony washeld on April 24 in Hoa Lu district, the Red River Delta province of Ninh Binh,to celebrate 1,050 years of the establishment of Dai Co Viet, the first centralizedfeudal state of Vietnam.
The event, held at the relic site of formerimperial capital of Hoa Lu in Truong Yen commune, saw the presence of PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party General Secretary Nong DucManh, former President Truong Tan Sang, former Chairman of the NationalAssembly Nguyen Sinh Hung, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, serving andformer leaders of the Party and State, along with a large number of localpeople and visitors.
In her speech, Secretary of the provincial PartyCommittee of Ninh Binh province Nguyen Thi Thanh recalled the country’sglorious history, noting that in 968, Dinh Bo Linh put down the anarchy of the12 warlords to become king under the name Dinh Tien Hoang. He named the countryDai Co Viet (Great Viet) and set up the capital in Hoa Lu, which is now NinhBinh.
Thanh said the establishment of the firstcentralized feudal state heralded a new era for the country after a millenniumunder the rule of dynasties from the north.
The country’s name “Dai Co Viet” existed from968 to 1054 under three royal dynasties: the Dinh, the Tien Le (Early Le), andthe early period of the Ly. In the Tien Le Dynasty and the early period of theLy Dynasty, Dai Co Viet continued to develop in all aspects, and the country’sindependence and autonomy continued to be reinforced, she added.
The official said since Ninh Binh province wasre-established in 1992, it has obtained a number of significant achievements inall fields. In 2017, the province’s economic growth rate was posted at 7.95percent while nearly 8.8 trillion VND was collected for the State budget.
Theprovince has ensured defence, political security and social order and safety,she said, adding that it has also stepped up the building of the Party andpolitical system.
Speaking at the ceremony, DeputyPrime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said Ninh Binh is a traditional land ofpatriotism and culture.
Over the past few years, the province has promoted solidarity and creativity togain significant achievements in diverse fields with economic growth higherthan the average level of the whole country.
He urged Ninh Binh to promote historical and cultural values of the ancientland and develop such potential fields as hi-tech industry, clean technology,processing technology, and hi-tech agriculture in association with building new-stylerural areas.
The province needs to pay more attention to social-cultural development,improve the quality of education and training, develop human resources andimprove the material and spiritual lives of local people as well as implementeffectively social welfare policies, especially for national revolutionarycontributors, improve public health services, and better its businessenvironment.
Ninh Binh should pay heed to preventing corruption and wastefulness along withprotecting the environment, responding to climate change, and strengtheningdefence-security capacity, he said.
With its long-standing and proud history, the Deputy PM believed that Ninh Binhwill overcome difficulties to successfully implement the Resolution adopted atthe 21st Congress of the provincial Party Organisation, thus ensuring its rapidand sustainable development.
At the ceremony, visitors were treated with a special art performance show anda spectacular firework display.-VNA
