Gov’t Inspector General highlights anti-corruption solutions

Hanoi (VNA) - Government Inspector GeneralLe Minh Khai has asserted the determination of the Party Central Committeeand its Politburo and Secretariat, the National Assembly (NA), the Government,and the CentralSteering Committee on Anti-Corruption in the fight againstcorruption.

Speaking at a question and answer (Q&A) session on October 30 in theframework of the on-going sixth plenum of the14th NA, Khai stressed that with thegreat determination of these agencies, corruption has been prevented and tendsto decline.

He, however, noted that the situation is still complicated, emphasising the needto continue strongly promoting the work in the coming time.

The CentralSteering Committee on Anti-Corruption and the Governmentare determined to step up the fight against corruption with many solutions,focusing on popularization work so that the people and the entire politicalsystem, especially cadres and civil servants, are well aware of the Anti-corruptionLaw and relevant laws, Khai said.

Attentionwill also be given to perfecting comprehensively the national legal system and ensuringthe control over all activities, especially in State management, he added.

Amendments and adjustments to the Anti-corruption Law should be urgently completedand submitted to the 14th NA for approval in this plenum, he said.

He voiced that it is also necessary to mobilise the entire political system,including the people and press agencies, to engage in the inspection,supervision and detection, thus minimizing corruption cases, contributing to cleaningup the State apparatus and promoting the national socio-economic development.

In his reply to question of NA deputy Ngo Duy Hieu from Hanoi on breakthrough measuresto resolve citizens' complaints, Khai affirmed the reception of citizens andsettlement of complaints and denunciations are very important.

In2018, the Government has taken measures to push the work, and directed authoritiesat all levels to do so, he noted.

Hestressed that with the function of State management on receiving citizens andsettling complaints and denunciations, the Government Inspectorate has givenadvice and proposed many solutions to better the work.

The current breakthrough solution is how to thoroughly resolve complaints ofpeople at the grassroots levels, so it is necessary to enhance coordinationbetween central and local agencies in the work, Khai said.


NAdeputy Phan Viet Cuong from the central province of Quang Nam mentioned a factthat a number of chairpersons of provinces and districts hesitate to receive thepeople.

Hesuggested application of high technology in the work, saying that all thereception offices at provincial and district levels can be connected to theGovernment Inspectorate for monitoring and handling.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also asked Khai to acquire Cuong’s opinions,towards bettering the reception of citizens and settlement of their complaintsand denunciations.-VNA
