The two-day event,themed “Towards Resilience and Growth: Reshaping Priorities for GlobalEconomy”, is part of the 21 st meeting of economic leaders of theAsia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum held in Indonesia fromOctober 1-8.
Addressing the opening ceremony, IndonesianPresident Susilo bambang Yudhoyono said the business community is a keypartner in the global comprehensive development and creating moreopportunities for trade and investment, for the benefit of all people.
The supports by the business community will make APEC membereconomies more stable and completely open for businesses, he added.
The Indonesian president noted that the summit affirms the key role of the private sector in the regional economy.
He called on the regional business community to strengthen cooperationand contribute to realising APEC’s common goals, including enhancinginvestment, sustaining growth and creating jobs in the region,supporting the enterprises and the private sector, ensuring thefinancial stability, developing social welfare and enhancing cooperationand dialogue.
He expressed his belief that the summit and theAPEC’s business community will contribute greatly to this year’s APECeconomic leaders’ meeting.-VNA
