The Central Highland province of Gia Lai has put into use a new boarding school to attract more students from remote areas.
The senior high school, built in An Khe town at a total investment ofover 80 billion VND (3.81 million USD), has enrolled 300 ethnic minoritystudents for the 2014-2015 school year.
Thestudents, all of the Bahnar ethnic group, are granted with textbooks andclothes besides free accommodation at the school.
This is the second boarding school at the senior high education level inthe province for ethnic students from remote areas. The first schoolcan accommodate 400 students.
The Central Highlands provinces have so far built 55 boarding schools for children from ethnic minority groups.
According to the steering committee for the Central Highlands, 1.4million students throughout the region have registered for the 2014-2015school year, with 461,000 students belonging to ethnic minority groups.
The Central Highlands comprise the five provinces of Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Kon Tum.-VNA
