Get-together marks VN-Romania diplomatic ties

A get-together was organised in Hanoi on November 28 to celebrate Romania ’s 92nd National Day (Dec. 1) and the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Romania diplomatic relations.

Co-hosted by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) andthe Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association (VRFA), the function saw theattendance of VUFO Vice President Tran Dac Loi, Romanian Ambassador toVietnam Dumitru Olaru and a number of representatives from the PartyCentral Committee’s Commission for External Relations and the Ministryof Foreign Affairs.

VRFA President Tong Van Ngaexpressed his delight at Romania ’s recent socio-economicachievements as well as its efforts to overcome the global financialcrisis.

Nga noted with pleasure that bilateralrelations have always been strengthened and developed over the past 60years. He added that the Vietnamese people are grateful to Romania forits assistance and support during their past struggle for nationalindependence and the current process of national construction, as wellas in training thousands of officials for Vietnam .

The official said he hoped that the implementation of measures agreedupon at the Vietnam-Romania joint committee for economic, trade,scientific and technological cooperation would make economic and tradeties be on a par with their political and friendly relations.

VRFA will do its utmost to contribute to the enhancement ofsolidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between the Vietnameseand Romanian people, he added.

Ambassador Olaruhailed VRFA’s role as a bridge to facilitate cooperation betweenbusinesses from the two nations and organise visits to Romania forthose who had studied in the European country.

Thediplomat also expressed his hope that Romania-Vietnam friendly andcooperative relations would further develop in the years to come./.
