Get-together marks 36th Lao National Day

The Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) hosted a get-together in Hanoi on Nov. 29 to mark the 36 th anniversary of Lao National Day (Dec. 2).
The Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) hosted a get-togetherin Hanoi on Nov. 29 to mark the 36 th anniversary of Lao National Day(Dec. 2).

Addressing the event, Vu Trong Kim, VLFA President said that Vietnam andLaos have a special traditional friendship and comprehensive andlong-term cooperation.

In the first seven months of this year, two-way trade rose by 60 percent over the same period last year.

Vietnam has invested in 203 projects capitalised at 3.3 billion USD inLaos, becoming one of the leading investors in the country. Meanwhile,Laos has had eight projects worth over 66 million USD in Vietnam.

Along with the development of Vietnam – Laos relations in the fieldsof politics, trade and culture, exchanges of the two peoples havedeveloped strongly.

Somphon Synchaleun, Lao Ambassador toVietnam said that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit toLaos in June and Party General Secretary and State President ChoummalySayasone’s visit to Vietnam in August create a solid foundation andmanifest the strong determination to maintain and promote traditionalLaos – Vietnam relations./.
