Germany helps Laos develop infrastructure

The Government of Germany will provide 45.8 million EUR (49 million USD) to support development in Laos for 2016-2017.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Government of Germany will provide 45.8 million EUR (49 million USD) to support development in Laos for 2016-2017.

Of the fund, 18.8 million EUR will be used for human resources development and the remaining 27 million USD will be earmarked for technology development, contributing to implementing the country’s socio-economic development plan.

A document to this effect was signed in Vientiane on November 10 by representatives from the two governments.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Lao Deputy Minister of Planning and Industry Kikeo Chanthaburi appreciated assistance and support from the German government’s relevant agencies in various fields, helping improve to people’s lives.

The support from Germany through organisations such as GIZ, KFW and BGR for Laos aims at boosting sustainable economic growth, rural development and regional connectivity.-VNA
