Germany becomes biggest market for Vietnamese coffee

Coffee exports in the first nine months of this year decreased in volume but increased in turnover, with Germany being the largest market for the product.

Hanoi (VNA) – Coffee exports in the first ninemonths of this year decreased in volume but increased in turnover, with Germanybeing the largest market for the product.

According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade InformationCentre, Vietnam shipped 1.18 million tonnes of coffee overseas for 2.23 billionUSD, down 5.4 percent in quantity but up 3.4 percent in turnover and 9.2percent in price annually.

The lion’s share of the total export volume, at 181,014tonnes, was sold to Germany, reeling in 319.52 million USD. The figuresrepresented a decrease of 1 percent and an increase of 13.8 percent from thesame period last year, respectively.

The US came as the second biggest market of Vietnamesecoffee between January and September, spending 189.42 million USD on 96,472 tonnes,dropping by 13.9 percent and 5 percent year-on-year.

The amount of coffee exported to Italy during theperiod, meanwhile, reached 100,464 tonnes, reeling in 171.82 million USD. Thesemeant annual deceases of 11.9 percent and 4 percent, respectively./.
