GE to produce medical equipment in Vietnam

The Ministry of Public Health will team up with the US giant, the General Electric Group (GE) in a joint project to manufacture medical equipment in Vietnam for the domestic market.
The Ministry of Public Health will team up with the US giant, theGeneral Electric Group (GE) in a joint project to manufacture medicalequipment in Vietnam for the domestic market.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two partiesin Hanoi on August 24, the project will also help Vietnam to puttogether training programmes to improve the skills of Vietnamese healthworkers.

The MoU is part of GE’s “In Country, ForCountry” initiative, which aims to design specific medical equipment tosatisfy the different demands in different countries.

According to Minister of Public Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, this willhelp Vietnam to provide quality medical equipment to health carefacilities at every level, especially in communes and districts.

The GE was one of the first US companies to enter Vietnam in1993. It established GE Vietnam in 2003, to supply after sales servicesfor medical and electrical equipment.-VNA
