Hanoi (VNA) - The Immigration Department will extend its visawaiver programme for another month, officials have announced.
Foreignerswho entered Vietnam from March 1, 2020 can have their temporary stay permitsautomatically extended until November 30.
It isanother one-month extension to the current policy first issued in mid-May to supportforeigners stuck in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The movemeans from now until November 30, people who came to Vietnam under visa waiverprogrammes, e-visas or tourism visas from March 1 can stay or leave Vietnamwithout doing any paperwork or paying any fees.
Regulationson those who entered the country before March 1 remain the same as the currentpolicy. They can be considered for this permit extension as long as they canprove they are stranded in Vietnam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They need toprovide certificates issued by their diplomatic mission in Vietnam through anofficial diplomatic note with a translation in Vietnamese or documents issuedby Vietnamese authorities to confirm they were quarantined or treated forCOVID-19, among other reasons beyond their control.
Those who donot fall under these categories or have committed illegal actions have to abideby the existing laws on immigration./.
