Free rooms abound for students sitting for examinations

A man from Dong Nai province's Bien Hoa city, forexample, whose son will take the exam on July 1-4 at Hoang Hoa ThamSecondary School in HCM City's Tan Binh district, has found a free roomvia Facebook.

Under a decision by the Ministry of Education andTraining, the university entrance exam and the high school exam will becombined into one this year.

The exam's results will determine ifstudents can graduate from high school and qualify for admission touniversities, colleges or vocational training schools.

In thecombined exam, students will sit for tests of eight subjects: maths,literature, foreign language, physics, chemistry, biology, history andgeography.

Students can also call a hotline at HCM City's Student Assistance Centre.

People who want to offer free accommodations can post their offer on the Facebook page.

QuachHai Dat, Head of the Student Assistance Centre of HCM City, said that35,000 accommodations, including more than 6,000 free rooms, would beprovided.

As many as 60,000 bus tickets and 200,000 bus and citymaps as well as 200,000 booklets about the exams are available forstudents.

At a launching ceremony held recently in Hanoi, Le QuocPhong, Chairman of the Vietnam Students Association, said the programmethis year would be held in 23 provinces and cities.

As of June 14, as many as 3,312 voluntary teams with 53,000 volunteers had been established in the country.

The programme targets providing 22,277 free accommodations, 102,850 rooms at cheap prices and 57,856 free meals nationwide.

Thevolunteer programme over the last 13 years has attracted a large numberof students from universities, colleges and vocational schools.

TheCentral Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union and theNational Committee for Traffic Safety have introduced 38 voluntary teamswho will work to ensure traffic safety during the national high schoolgraduation exam 2015.

Secretary of the committee and Presidentof the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Phi Long said the volunteers willbe arranged at cities and provinces nationwide where the exams willtake place.

They are responsible for working with relevantagencies to raise public awareness of obeying traffic laws, regulatingflow and handling accidents.

Vice Chairman of the NationalCommittee for Traffic Safety Khuat Viet Hung said a number of measureshad been enacted to ensure traffic safety and support means of transportfor candidates and their family members during the exam.

The volunteer teams will commence their duties on June 21.-VNA
